The difference between the otters and stuff is that chimps are on land, they can achieve more, have more predators, and have much more area that they can conquer and make use of.
Saying otters have entered the Stone Age is like saying beavers are as advanced as us because they have homes.
The difference is also that beavers and otters don’t have to advance any more to keep up with their world. Apes may need to do that, as food becomes scarce and humans kill off their environment. They will have to learn and adapt.
We were in the Stone Age for over a million years, chances are that they will be too. And that makes it more likely for them to die off before they exit the Stone Age.
Same could be said for otters, beavers, and other mammals that use stones, they eventually would become as smart as us, but we are become smarter at a faster pace than they are currently, so there’s an extremely low chance their species will ever make it as far as we have.
Also if they did make it far enough to make tools, they would most likely start to steal ours and take over us, as we didn’t have a species more dominant than us, it is almost impossible to predict what could, or what will happen.

Monkeys have been using stone tools for 1000s of years. Researchers say monkeys entered the stone age 3000 years ago.
It's not a new thing. lol
What if apes know when they are being recorded. And when they go to their home tree or cave, they call each other on their Banana Smart Phones?
