  1. i don't know why it's such a strange or controversial statement to make, look at how many videos there are of cats being shown a fake snake or snakelike object and IMMEDIATELY they're on edge and can hunt them perfectly with quick strikes to avoid getting hit, nobody taught them that, yet an indoor cat who's never seen a snake will react the same way as smaller wildcats like servals would instictively.

nobody has to really teach you how to climb, of course you can be taught to do it better but nobody ever taught me and i just saw a tree and wanted to go up it and it made sense where to stand. instinct is just another word for genetic memory.

  2. I can say from my own experience that I definitely have some kind of information or understanding of mechanical stuff from my dad. We both work at the same company as industrial maintenance technicians and we both latch onto the same concepts. Even as a young child I had the nack for taking apart stuff like VHS players to see how they worked and how to use screwdrivers and a lot of the more simple stuff.

I don't know how much of it was physically taught to me and how much was just intuition, but I know that that mechanical intuition was definitely passed down to me by my dad simply being my dad.
