I did that once. Punched a guy in the face, broke his glasses, head boucned back & hit the ground. River of blood. Wife (girlfriend at the time) approached, put pressure on his wound & kept yelling at me "what did you do!!!!???" Blood all over her hands. What began as a drunk guy sharing a cab, refusing to pay for his taxi portion & walking off; turned into the rest of my 6 week vacation, worrying if I was going to go to jail. Great way to impress a new girl. As soon as he was in the ambulance, I asked the police if I could apologize. They said yes, so I went to the ambulance, looked at the guy with his head all bandaged up, shook his hand & apologized. I was shivering in shock. Sobered up instantly. Police response "shit happens, get your wife to make you a tea & calm you down". It could have went south very quickly. Luckily, he didnt press charges. But there went a relaxing vacation in another country. You would think a person learns from that, but I still managed to bust my fingers later on punching incorrectly when I see red. My advice to myself & others; Keep calm, know your limits & avoid escalating 10 steps before you get that gut feeling; predict a situation before you lose your shit beyond return.
