War will more likely eliminate humanity…who's kidding who?
People are saying war is in our genes.
But what if, in the future, we find that "war-gene" and we could modify it, should we then do it?
Joe, Mankind is well on its way to eliminating war. Alfred Nobel of the peace prize, invented dynamite. At that time, around 1860 his thinking was that this invention was so powerful that it would make war too horrible to contemplate. Obviously, he was incorrect, But less than 100 years later the USA does invent a weapon that would make war too horrible to contemplate. The Atomic bomb. These weapons are so devastating that only 2 have ever been used. WWl killed around 25 million people, WWll killed over 60 million people, so we were getting more proficient. If that trend would have contiuned …..?? However it didn't continue because Atomic weapons make leaders come and reason together. Because if you are a leader with a nuclear weapon you must consider, prior to its use, that your world will change if you use it and the nuclear weapon that will be used right after yours will be targeted at your desk and the aim needn't be that accurate,but everything you ever knew and everyone you ever loved would vanish from the face of the Earth in a vapor cloud. These horrors will and have brought peace on large scale.Now how to address the smaller scale wars.
I'd hate to be a nerd but I think Halo when I think about this sort of thing. The only way humans will band together is if we unify completely under one single banner for all of humanity. Even then, as you colonize space eventually you will gain distance and groups will form and you'll have a fight between the "core worlds" and the "outer rim worlds" or whatever. So then, humanity would only stop war within themselves if they were forced to band together against a greater and separate enemy (aliens, covenant blah blah blah). And THEN, even still, war will exist. It's part of our nature and life itself. Food chain, dominance, etc.
Wow.. this entire clip is extremely overly hippy delusional. Countries exist because people have different ideas on how things can and should work, and if they have a culture that has people that take advantage of opportunities.
