Colbert is interesting. At times I’ve supported the guy, at other times I haven’t. Right now I don’t.
The Colbert Report was infinitely better because it had layers.
You had a liberal making fun of liberals by pretending to be gotcha conservative. So smart liberals can laugh at themselves/ their dumb party, and smart conservatives can laugh at themselves and their dumb party. It was a show for everybody that was 0% serious.
His new show, no body is laughing. Theyre just being snippy. Theyre trying to win/hurt the other side. There are serious shows for that. It's basically unwatchable.
Colberts show would be dead without Trump's presidency. I loved the Colbert report, but I don't feel like his current show has any real identity. That being said, when he lets himself get nerdy and not he all doom and gloom it become a more fun show. He needs to lean more into his inner geek.
Late night shows are Hollywood infomercials…
