It's great to hear you guys talking about this topic .. but I wish someone like Eve Ensler (V), or Brene Brown. had been in on the discussion as well.. just to bring in some other points.
Is anyone else noticing the Satanic symbolism OFTEN with Russell Brand??? It is EXCEPTIONALLY evident in most videos of his. If you know what you are seeing, it is unmistakable. I am sorry for those who keep buying into him.
JR is saying its wrong to sexualize children but adult women should be allowed to wear whatever they want and it's not wrong but it is wrong to disagree. It seems he believes people should have the freedom to do whatever they want as long as it is not physically or psychologically hurting someone. So in stating this previously stated opinion he is claiming he comprehends and understands that women dressing "sexy" causes no harm to anyone. Ok then, let's go back to his previous point that sexualizing children is wrong. Well when women dress sexy in public that effects the youth. Young boys and girls. Social media is a representation of that. I had young girls in my family who had Instagram and seeing what "Hannah Montana" was doing encouraged and influenced their behavior (duh they are vulnerable children). I would argue that according to his first statement that now we have an argument for sexual representation being wrong because it causes problems. Am I saying to make it illegal and force people to abide by my opinion? No. But I do find it very damaging and will do my best to protect my daughters from these things. To anyone who would argue that the solution is just to keep my children away from the internet in their youth it is not that simple. Women and young girls are more sexual now than ever thanks to the standard of modesty flying out the window. And thanks to beliefs like JR we now have the youth being oversexualized by the world but they also ignorantly do it to themselves. I am not trying to be rude. I'd truly love to have a civilized convo with JR about this but I am also passionate because I believe this has been detrimental to our youth. High Schools over Texas where I am from have now dropped the dress code….Do you know the result? I've been in areas where prostitution is high and there are young teens who happily get into that lifestyle only to become addicted to drugs and abused by older men. Children do not know how to care for themselves and it is our job to protect them. Part of protecting them is by being an example. Sexuality is 100000% ok but only in the right context. Personally I find it to be truly best in PRIVACY. Just an opinion but obviously I hold it strong. Peace & love we all just trying to make it out here.
Agree that to some extent gender is a construct. Biological sex isn't though.
