Bollocks . Fast food is not cheaper than buying your food from a grocer . Yes healthy food is cheaper than fast food and you can get way more meals . Rice , potatoes , onions , frozen veges , ramen noodles ( ditch the flavour satchels ) a dozen chicken thighs , some small steaks etc. Thrown in a bottle of extra virgin olive oil , some herbs like turmeric , paprika , Curry and dried basil .
Between my partner and i our main meal costs 5- 6 dollars . Add water to the cost and the gas to heat it up and it is 7-8 dollars .
Food assistance programs to direct users toward healthy foods less junk food. Good luck getting that past the lobbyists in congress.
I don’t 100% agree with the notion that “junk” food is cheaper than “healthy” food. Sure, ultra processed is food that you find in the middle of the grocery store is cheaper than fresh food. However I wouldn’t say it’s cheaper to go to McDonalds multiple times a week than it is to go the grocery store and buy fresh meat and produce once a week. I think the main problem people run into is that ultra processed food is convenient. This is the trap that people run into.
They are not even cheap
Joe can I get a job ? I work well
