  1. Here's a true story. Back in 2005, I was a clueless 16-year-old who thought I was edgy by leaving a negative comment on Joe Rogan's MySpace page. (I don't remember exactly what I said, but I think I mocked him for being a has-been from Fear Factor and said his comedy sucked.) He was one of the first celebs to embrace social media sites like MySpace and had a pretty big following. He sent me a private message almost immediately afterward absolutely blasting me, saying I was a word that rhymes with "maggot" and that I'd never amount to half the stuff he'd accomplished. He was right. And today it's funny to hear him discuss how he avoids getting pulled into negative comments online because I learned the same thing a number of years ago. It's unhealthy and ultimately an enormous waste of time. I feel bad I ever posted anything like that on his page, just like he'd probably feel bad for cussing out some random teenager on the internet. Joe is one of my favorite people to listen to now and it's so crazy to think back 13 years ago and how different people's perspectives can change in such relatively short spans of time.

  2. I'm really proud of Russell. At one point he was at extremes with drugs, then he went to extremes with politics and political correctness. He, while still very left leaning, has seen the world for what it is and is far more centrist than a lot of loonies in politics amd social media today and can actually have very reasonable and thoughtful conversations. Good for him. A lot of people on all of the political extremes could learn a lesson from him.
