I'm not the only one who remembers that Russell Brand failed to vet Amanda Palmer, right?
It's interesting though. I think there is a lot of advantage to know-how being developed and transferred across generations in many disciplines, where a person starting out on their own, with no familial precedent, is at a disadvantage in that they have to learn almost everything in that field from scratch (and get walloped along the way for it). I know that tyrannising over your kids is a bad idea, but I'm wary about turning away from the potential downsides of taking off in an unprecedented trajectory.
