Dr. Cornel West is a philosopher, political activist, social critic, author, and public intellectual. He is Professor of the Practice of Public Philosophy at Harvard University and holds the title of Professor Emeritus at Princeton University. He has also taught at Union Theological Seminary, Yale, Harvard, and the University of Paris.

If someone's objection to Socialism is worrying that some segment of society would then be enjoying a "free ride", I think you can be sure they are merely worried over losing a privilege they enjoy under the current system, and would not want to lose it under any other system. So Socialism becomes a boogeyman, when they are really in fear of losing their own "free ride" relative to the experience of another group or groups. Either that or they are simply too thick to even understand what Socialism is.
Joe didn’t or couldn’t push back some of Dr West’s ideas. That was unfortunate. Still a great talk! Thank you Dr West. I am going to check out his book on why race matters.
