  1. How’s a tsunami gonna destroy seattle when it’s nowhere near the pacific? in fact it’s 96 miles from ocean shores WA (right on the coast) if you’re talking earthquakes thought that’s a different story. On a map seattles waaay far away from the ocean so idk what this dudes inhaling

  2. These guys dont know what they are talking about. I live in Oregon and while Im no geologist I do enjoy reading up on it. Portland is not located on the ocean or an ocean inlet like Seattle is (even there a tsunami would have to make its way through the Puget Sound and would not be as large as you might think when it arrives). Portland is located where two large rivers (Columbia and Willamette) come together and is about eighty miles from the Pacific. There is no way a tsunami is going to make it up eighty miles of river against the current. Also, another important point, there is a mountain range in between the Pacific and Portland, the Oregon Coast Range, which has an average elevation of about 1500 feet and earthquake-generated tsunami waves get about a hundred feet at the most. I definitely would not want to be in, say, Seaside Oregon or Aberdeen Washington when a Cascadia Subduction Zone earthquake happens but Portland would not be affected by a tsunami and Seattle would not be affected nearly as much as you might think. The earthquake itself would do entirely enough damage, but people are often too paranoid about tsunamis these days.

  3. I live near Portland, Oregon. Have for over a decade. There's no way a tsunami will destroy portland. It's over 2 hours away from the coast and there's a whole mountain range in between the coast and Portland. An earthquake might happen, but the most likely scenario would be Mt. St. Helens erupting again.
