If you have a double-action semi-automatic pistol, which I have, you don't have to worry about the hammer not being clocked or a bullet not being in the chamber. A double-action pistol cocks the hammer, racks a round into the chamber and then fires it all with one pull of the trigger. So make sure you buy a double-action pistol and you don't even have to think about it. Simple as that.
I always carry with one in the chamber….
