You cannot download consciousness! You can download information behaviours tendencies system will create algorithms to imitate you but it wont be you. Consciousness isn't transfarrable… when you're alive and brain lives you think…. once it dies you are done my friend!

This is how I approach this subject. The first aliens that could have possibly made any contact with earth would have been trying to make contact get essentials that it needs for life. Aliens will be suffering having traveled that far. Maybe they need water, carbon dioxide, oxygen, whatever it needs to live. The first ones would have been really noticeable and asking for help. It won't be a fleet of vehicles making it to another galaxy or from a very far away place in the Milky Way Galaxy and being stealthy about it. This is the ability to go light years in a month type rate of speed. We cannot do anything like this now. Living things can only be in space for so long. A year in a space vehicle will be torture for any complex living organism. We would have seen this and had been making an effort to help them survive their journey. We would be trying to feed the aliens, unless of course humans are their preferred food then, the deal is off.
This is how we will eventually land on another planet maybe a billion years from now. We will be looking for basics and it will not be stealthy at all. Man will fail 1,000 times before achieving this. What we can all imagine, could definitely happen, but I think humans will be the aliens somewhere far away, not the other way around. And they will not find intelligent life that will be compatible with ours. They'll be lucky to find a planet that has the basic essentials.
The more intelligent, the more dangerous. Fight IQ is dangerous. What if we land somewhere and it is like Japan in 1853? They are like the Samurai were in 1853. Commodore Perry showed up on the shores of Japan with a big gun ship. The Samurai did not allow foreigners into their country, except for the Anu who were like harmless fishing tribe in the north. No foreigners. The Samurai lined the shores to fight and Commodore Perry opened fire with cannons. The Samurai surrendered. This is one way aliens can go if they know how to fight when they get here or are better at fighting then us. What if we get an alien that can reproduce at 100x faster than humans. That would be insane. Or what if they have no instinct to preserve life like an insect? No fear of death and we don't figure that out for a while. This is all "Invasion of the Body Snatchers". I love that genre.
I can have fun with this subject. Sum total, no aliens have been here in recorded history and if they came during the dinosaurs, they became extinct with them. We are the aliens. If humans live and continue study for 1/2 the time in earth's lifespan, that's 3-4 billion years of genius human IQ's generation after generation (to the Nth power) working on problems and creating new ones to solve. They just can't nuke themselves. That's the rule.
Science has only just started. 3 billion years will see a trillion Einstein's, Steven Hawkings and other notable human geniuses. I won't be here to see it, but I like to think humans will be living in harmony to ages of 150 years in the year 3,800,002,022. The land is going to look way different and they will face ice age after ice age. Will humans survive long enough on earth to survive radical changes in the earth? That's a good question. What are humans going to do if the poles switch? Go extinct, right? Geologically, as much movement is happening now as when Pangaea split 200 million years ago. Something severe is going to happen inside the first billion years for the human animal. Humans are slated for extinction, we have no idea when. We're chucking space equipment at asteroids now. That is so sick! How far will the human animal make it before a natural catastrophe kills them or will they survive billions of years? Will humans live long enough to become aliens?
