Boston accent sound just like the Cardiffian accent in Wales and a lot of Welsh people were on the mayflower and many boats after, my ancestor was part of William Penn's crew who set up Pennsylvania and was good friends with him . He left the U.K because he became a Quaker and quakers were treated very badly by the English church. There is so much more to the U.K than England esp London.

  2. English spelling may seem wierd to Americans, but there are good historical reasons for that. There's a channel called "the map men" that did a brilliant explanation of this – well worth a watch.

    I also think how American spellings evolved has a lot to do with immigration in the early years. Many people went to America as non-English or poor English speakers. I think this then evolved into a "spell it as it sounds" type thing. Sometimes in a modern context it could be argued that some are better, but others maybe not. Guys, there is really no excuse for spelling defence with an "s"! 🤣
