The fact is the Natives just didn’t have immunity to the illnesses Europeans were already exposed to. Back then, everyone thought illnesses were caused by “bad humours”. If the Europeans did give blankets infested with smallpox, they would have done it unknowingly because germ theory didn’t come around until the late 19th century.
Old world diseases that were brought to the Americas; smallpox, measles, German measles, mumps, diphtheria, pertussis, cholera, plague, polio, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, malaria (plasmodium vivax), malaria (plasmodium falciparum), yellow fever, salmonella paratyphi, hookworm, typhoid, influenza, tuberculosis, typhus, typhoid, polio, rabies, rinderpest, plague, and only God knows what else.
Thousand of broken treaties; Native American kept surrendering; yet the US gov would exchange during the treaty, gifts, such blanket filled with smallpox…etc. Research it.
