I heard one translation of meek was more accurate to : those who are capable of war and keep their weapons sheathing.
The eye of the needle in that writing refered to the small opening in city walls that allowed the main gates to remain closed and trade still continue.
It was very difficult to get a loaded camel to go through this opening. Hence why it's difficult to pass through the eye of the needle.
One doesn't have to give up their wealth to enter heaven, but they must be more wary of their actions and not abuse their station.
