Definitely possible. It has been successfully demonstrated in a round worm, where its brain was mapped & uploaded into a simple robot. But human brain is millions of times more complex.
So it can be done but we don't have the technology yet.
Maybe after quantum computers & more efficient storage devices.
Downloading your consciousness will just be a parlor trick. You won't have the experience of closing your eyes and waking up inside a computer. If you die, your perception will be whatever the afterlife is (I have my own beliefs on this as I'm sure you all do). The copy of your consciousness in the computer will be a nice comforting reminder of the person you were to those that access it, but you won't have any experience of that interaction. Kind of like how Superman's father could talk with him in the fortress of solitude as an AI years after he died when Krypton was destroyed. Humanity would be committing suicide if it gets fooled into thinking that's really you.
I only have respect for human work creating vacation. Robots have no place here.
Mind uploading is impossible cause you're consciousness (soul existence) is impossible. The idea for scientists to make this work will be 100% fatal and on top of that, the real you will die while the computer will just copy a small bit of you that's not you. Finally with the earth, the sun, and the entire universe is not eternal. Nothing last forever. Enjoy your life while u can
