  1. If predictability of generic traits became a certainty, then the world going forward will become a lot more scary. For example; would a future state 'work towards 'curtailing' citizens with certain genetic malfunctions to procreate with the knowledge that off-spring based on genetic defects will result in health issues that become a burdensome to the state. A future state could pass laws that would result in citizens with certain genetic prepositions to unfavourable health outcomes, that result in higher taxation should a citizen act against state health recommendations; i.e. procreating despite having a state certified report disclosing reasons genetic, that would not beneficial to the state or the parents. Alternatively, massive leaps in the science of genetic manipulation could result in providing the means to correct natural generic errors. The obvious path that could follow, be the state working towards a high degree of generic manipulation towards ensuring humanity has the most desirable generic traits – the obvious outcome being those that are wealthy enough having more freedom to procreate than those less well off. Assess to best health has always been about how much you can pay – I see this only worsening going forward.

  2. 3:30 Metzl makes the claim that DNA is some miracle unlimited data storage mechanism. I'd be curious to understand what he means by this. DNA is just a physical material like any other–how does it provide "unlimited" storage?
