  1. It may just be that we do not, and in fact can not, give up our American Imperialist
Global Domination Empire that is over 100 years old. It really just needs a face lift,
and a re-org, along with some transparency and sunlight. The goals should be able
to be explained in language that Americans can understand and the constraints on
democracy, should be voted on democratically.

That is, we should first say – OK, this is something that is not going to be voted on
right now, but we will enter into a project to open up with the truth, explain what we
did wrong, and what we did right. How we will address those wrongs of the past,
and what we will choose to carry into the future – for 5 years say.

  2. I remember being in High School during the Bush years and watching The Daily Show religiously… It was a "bad time" in many regards, but a great time in my life. I go back and watch clips from the show and it's still hilarious (and IMO is far superior to the current project).

  3. Yeah… 1 hour in and I might see why it's over in 20 minutes… wtf Joe. Straight up, no question, just fucking wrong on this one and combative about it lol. I bet you that Joe is absolutely 'overweight' when you stick him on a scale without a doubt. Those flat height + age = weight charts they have. His excuse would be something like, "well you have to look at…" and I'd say "oh, other variables? But they dont matter because your weight is necessarily corrosive Joe. You know, I used to… well I wasn't ever overweight like that but know somebody who used to be fat and lazy and they arent in your position of being overweight anymore Joe."
I think that last sentence and argument is fucking dumb, but that is 100% using Joe's difinitive logic of absolutes when talking about the medical health of literally everyone individually not even with an 'in general' caveat or anything. That is extremely fucking dumb and not like his typical understanding of… anything. I mean he's definitely got an issue with confirmation bias regarding the topic of exercise and doesnt have the first clue he does, or seemingly what confirmation bias is and why it throws off perceptions of the world. Take a look at all the winners of an exercise competition and they all say "I exercise and eat what I consider healthy" and he takes that to mean well that's the answer. The issue comes when you take the people who didnt win and ask them the same question and it turns out they answered that question in the exact same way. Oh and it turns out that just because someone can't lose weight easily, that doesnt make them a liar or lazy. As crazy as it seems, there are things that happen with the human body when its affected by millions of differing variables every day that cause situations which can't be answered with the typical answers. There are people who would die of sun cancer if they tried to get enough vitamin D for 1 day using the sun. There are people who will literally sleep less and less as they near around 50 years old until eventually they just cannot sleep anymore until they die from their organs shutting down because of lack of sleep caused by a hereditary condition which sounds like maybe the worst way in the world to fucking die imaginably.
I bet Joe has no fucking clue that there is actually a condition where you will quite literally break down your muscle tissue and eat that before fat. Conditions where you will fall asleep 15 minutes after waking up while drinking coffee watching your favorite show after 9 hours of sleep if you sit down for more than 10 minutes. These absolutes even piss me off and I've been incredibly lucky as far as the physical goes. I did wrestling in middle and high school and was doing 250 situps, pushups, squatjumps and running 12+ miles every day after school all broken up into 3 sets starting in 7th grade for conditioning when exercise got a bit more serious instead of the normal baseball, swimteam, basketball, track and field, football stuff so I know exercise pretty well and have for a while… but his determination to ignore evidence contrary to his worldview when its shaped literally by fucking hanging around the exceptions to reality is irritating.
Jon "you can be healthy and be 'overweight'. Its not necessarily something that is corrosive to everybody"
With absolute medical authority and conviction.
Joe – "It is though. It IS necessarily corrosive."
You know… Joe. Someone who is your height and weighs 160 pounds is considered overweight and that's corrosive. 192 pounds is obese and I'm guessing that's much closer to the mark…
You see how absolutes make for ridiculously dumb commentary?
First time ever, and with one of my favorite people on as well, I'm turning this shit off early. Listened to probably an easy 500 of these, but man this just hot wrong on the wrong day or maybe Joe's just being a lot bitchier lately. Considering they didnt address this being a 1h20min podcast, I'm assuming it wasn't supposed to be and it annoyed the shit out of Jon as well. He fucking sat through Fox news shows and couldn't make it through your podcast as a friend Joe. Take the hint man, shit. Somethings up lately, try to work on it. Or dont and I'll listen to something else while driving.
