The confinement of our fellow animals for entertainment or under the "guise" of ambassadors in zoos is bs. I personally stopped going to zoos years ago. And forget about SeaWorld and this shit show Marineland. As we advance as a species, we realize that this type of cruelty is unacceptable. And don't get me started on these fake sanctuaries with baby chimps and the lion cub encounters (loads of them in FL. ) These are NOT sanctuaries and are doing effectively nothing for the species except exploitation. And most zoos operate under the pretense that they are pro conservation, but how many animals in their facilities are being reintroduced into their native habitats? Zero. They breed and have specific types of animals at their zoos that they know will draw a crowd. Zero respect for most zoos in our country. Great Apes, Monkeys, Big Cats, Elephants, Rhinos, Hippos, Bears and Whales/Dolphins do not belong in entertainment or being put on public display. I find it interesting that Joe is so passionate about this topic, but says little about how horribly cruel humans have been to chimps, gorillas and orangutans. Attention needs to be given to all species who are being exploited in labs, road-side zoos, zoos and these animal parks. Do not give your money to these horrific places. Legislation needs to be put in place to ban all of these cruel practices.
