The new used to sell news. Then, the news was there to sell ads. Now, news is clickbait. All along, news has been shaping social consciousness just like social media today. Nut at least if we got the news is "x, y, z." If you were concerned enough, you were free to discuss it, free to investigate it yourself, free to complain to the news that they were full of crap about something and they might actually listen, objectively.
Well, I could argue point by point on the whole interview here, but specifics aside, this CIA dude seems like a pretty straight shooter. I like the guy. Keep rockin' Joe.
Lincoln was a white supremacist< the Civil War had nothing to do with slavery. But you are right that in the context of the time, it was not so shocking or offensive as it is today. But the Emancipation Proclamation was economic warfare, not liberty for blacks. Only about half of blacks were freed for one thing. Northern slave owners were exempt, for example. But it still took another fkkn century for civil rights. So slavery had nothing to do with liberty.
Make cops carry their own liability insurance so taxpayers don't have to pay when cops screw up. Drivers need insurance, doctors need insurance, construction companies need insurance. Why not the police, in the one job in the country where fkkking up carries the most weight?
