  1. Joe Rogan is off of his rocker, and the sad thing is that he’s not so atypical in that respect. There are so many huge and obvious flaws in his conspiracy-theory ravings that it’s hard to know where to start. But let’s give it a go: 1) The cosmic speed limit combined with astronomical distances makes physical contact with an terrestrial advanced civilization so impractical as to make its chances of occurring at all, a fortiori occurring regularly, vanishingly small. 2) The difference between humans and other primates is quantitative rather than qualitative, in other words, just a matter of degree. Apes think, feel, exhibit empathy, use tools, can acquire language. 3) So dogs have been bred to be diverse and humans seem diverse too? Who bred the dogs? Humans. Why couldn’t HUMANS have effectively bred themselves as well? 4) More UFO citings toward the middle of the 20th Century? Yes, as science-fiction became much more popular and as the threat of nuclear annihilation made extra-terrestrial intervention seem much more desirable. In the 19th century most lay people didn’t even know enough astronomy to think to ascribe an atmospheric anomaly to a space invasion. 6) And so on. Precisely none of Rogan’s arguments have any merit whatsoever.
