Got news for you as someone who's been on the inside. 1% is way low more like 4 – 9% have some level of schizophrenia. That becomes a blur within depression and austism though too. And all those bleed into retardation and add/adhd on the outskirts.
There shouldn't be a stigma though. There also shouldnt be acceptance that its normal
