Andrew Neil is a well known right wing commentator, a ex editor of the Times, forsooth. That the interviewed chap should describe him as a lefty, was vastly amusing…
Smart? I think you meant to say another word beginning with 's'. Shapiro's blustering is specious – not smart. Shapiro confounds people with his pace – but when one takes the time to analysize the wet paper-bag arguments he attempts to pass-off as cast iron. Trying to paint icing over the top of Shapiro's shit-cake of an interview is beneath the dignity of anyone who prefers to examine the validity of a point of view. All that happened with the Andrew Neil interview is, is Shapiro assumed his normal dishonest tactics wouldn't be detected. He normally likes to keep himself inside an enclave, not allowing anyone he knows to be his intellectual superior to debate him, for fear that the illusion he casts around himself would melt in the light. But with Andrew Neil, he couldn't get away with it. His only recourse was to do what all intellectual charlatans do; name call and then run away, which is precisely what he did! lol
