  1. Ancient eastern philosophy talks about the ability to manipulate airflow within the body as the source of all strength. Especially in grappling. For proper tightening of muscles and filling the 'gaps' to feel more solid, you need to learn to 'lock' and 'release' air in various appendages.

  2. I recognise this Interviewee, as Laird Hamilton, Movie Star of The Billabong Odyssey, a famous Big Wave Surfer associated with Hawaii. The first person, I saw riding a Foil (Hydrofoil Surf Board ).
Sure, but Joe Rogan's shallow breathing technique is better than the breath holds surely?

Assault bike, then holding breath submerged. Sure, that's interesting. Like, getting caught out, by an unusually large group of waves. Sure, assault bike would be, trying to paddle over them, and failing. Or, taking off on a big wave, then falling off.
Yeah, it's tough to hold my breath. I only been in waves of a certain size. My limit would be 6 feet these days or even 4. I don't know how they survive those big wipeout. Falling off events. I guess, there's no need to paddle, into the wave, with tow in surfing so. There's a chance to use, those techniques I read about, by chance, as a child.
Hyper ventilation. Bug, deep breaths, or those shallow breaths, providing. Constant oxygen. I never got the hang of it. Maybe it was loads of small breathes.
For Pearl diving, in the South Seas.

  3. I just watched a guy on barstool rough n rowdy was carrying a spare tire vs a guy who legit had the build of a gorilla and the spare tire dude knocked his ass down to the ground because he was so stiff. Reminded me of the book David and Goliath by Malcom gladwell. The bigger a giant is, the more momentum he has to fall and once he gets going it’s hard to change course
