The problem with season 8 was that they crammed 2 seasons worth of content into 6 episodes and still somehow made it boring. It used to be where building tension meant developing the plot further and further until the final thing happened but in season 8, they just kind of stood around talking about how bad the situation was. They literally boiled down the season to 3 episodes of content (2 battle episodes and 1 fallout episode) and had the rest of the season just be shitty dialogue with no plot. Every character was borderline retarded by the end and every “twist” they came up with was nowhere near logical. Season 7 had some of the same issues but time wise they made relatively efficient use of their episodes. It wouldn’t have been such a big deal if the season had been bad under different circumstances but D&D made selfish decisions one after another. HBO wanted more episodes and offered pretty much a limitless budget but they wanted to go and do fucking Star Wars. They could have passed the torch on to some new writers that gave a shit about the story but no. And by the end they were so fucking cocky and seem to think of themselves as geniuses. Fuck you Dan and David.
