  1. First off, he's pretty much the only suitable male heir of a Great House left standing. Robert Arryn was a moron, Edmure Tully had spent his entire tenure as Lord in Frey/Lannister captivity (and had lost Riverrun in the process), Tyrion Lannister didn't want to be king, and Gendry Baratheon was bastard-born and only recently legitimised.
Bran has a fair sense of the mistakes made by past rulers, by virtue of being able to ‘see’ the past, as the Three-Eyed Raven. That gives him a fair depth of knowledge that no other claimant would have.
Jon's claim to the throne was negated by an act of regicide, and by the fact that he was a Targaryen – same as the woman that had just burned King’s Landing and most of the inhabitants.
Bran couldn't father children – his rule would be transitional, since he would have no heir of his blood to follow him. This would allow Westeros to transition into a meritocratic elected monarchy rather than retaining the heriditary monarchy that had caused so many problems in the past.

  2. Vary's death was ridiculous. Bran being appointed the king is also dumb without more character buildup and Jon being sentenced to the wall because he killed Daenerys who out of nowhere went crazy and massacred women and children was ridiculous. Bran barely used his abilities and the night king battle lasted 1 episode with barely any characters killed off. All that buildup for nothing. Horrible. Should've been a normal 10 episode season and an extra season after that to develop the characters properly for their ultimate fates.
