Of course they would have a purpose XD, they would actually have time to do what they actually wanna do, and not be spending 16 hours days working almost everyday being miserable and making just enough just to get by. Lol what a ridiculous question haha. The UBI should just automatically be put into cost of for living, food, laundry, and some other necessities what is so hard about this? Everything else is on the individual to figure out, I think this is reasonable and fair so you aren't in the debt collector's society. Controlled UBI for essential needs is literally the only reasonable thing to do. 2:30 and i don't know Joe ask the people who have a horrific structure for this unaware egregious country lol. 3:59 yeah no shit, way to prove my point, basic math in hindsight. 4:40 yepppp, welcome to the real world…
I think the reason UBI is needed is not being reflected in this video. UBI is here because of the lack of jobs in the market due to automation. Most people won't be able to just go and get a job. Unless you are an entrepreneur you will not be able to earn extra money on top of your UBI. Most of the population are not entrepreneurs so that will leave 70% poor, living of UBI and that's not good.
The UBI will allow people who have lost their jobs due to automation have the opportunity to go back to school (e.g. trade school or a training program), which would in turn will force them to take out loans, but would at the same time alleviate them in terms of their basic needs. The UBI allows people to find career opportunities because people still have Bills to pay.
The only thing UBI will do is allow women like me to finish college. Or other women to leave their abusers. Or people like my mom to afford a little more security, the ability to fix her car, etc. Our "purpose" is not something you can take or give. Flipping burgers, carting off your trash, pulling fatburgs out of your city's plumbing are not things that give people purpose but yet they still have to be done. People will still work, things will just be slightly less Lord of the Flies. So I can see how people benefiting from the current system might not like it, but the rest of ya'll buying those lines? That's unexpected. Can you still have purpose? Jesus christ, man, what the hell are you a character out of a Huxley novel? Poor people do not look to our corporate overlords for purpose.
Either everyone pays tax or no one.
