Ruiz was born in the United States. He's an American. But all media claim he's the first Mexican heavyweight champ. They haven't said he's the first Mexican American to win it, they all including Joe say that he is a Mexican national. I don't even think Ruiz has dual citizenship, pretty sure he's only American.
