  1. Utter garbage. Your internal voice reasons your external actions. Those in turn shape your environment. Your perception of your environment informs your internal voice. If you go through life thinking everything is just fine and I'm just happy la la la, you're going to get f@ed up by the real world, which is harsh and cruel. You need grit, a cynical outlook, and constant vigilance. Being happy all the time is the preserve of the sheltered, undeserving privileged and the ignorant doomed to dead end in the labyrinth that is darwinian survival of the fittest. This guy is selling snake oil.

  2. I love the sentiment of this, however, I don’t love the judgement at the end. I married my high school sweetheart and live in the town I grew up in, and we’ve built a happy life with a great family, friends and careers. I don’t manage a McDonalds, but what if I did? How and why would that be a bad thing? Managing a McDonalds, married to your life long love and living in your beloved hometown sounds like it could be a pretty great life to me. There are many paths to happiness. We should not judge any of them.
