The meaning of life is faith…and the meaning of faith is the hopeless of things to come….u are in control of your own faithfulness
"Life itself is meaningless, life is an opportunity to create meaning and purpose. "
~Donald Trump
"Life itself is meaningless, life is an opportunity to create meaning and purpose. Some peoples existence is negative value while others have positive value. Ying and Yang "
his logic is pretty far off. God is a person, not quite the same as saying big bang or being in a simulation. Saying there is no meaning and you create your own meaning assumes a lot, like that there's no higher being nor purpose set for us (by God, or if it was a simulation, no purpose/plan for that)
he says if we there was a goal then we wouldn't be free. That's false. You can have free will and still have a goal. As a student you can have a test, with criteria, have free will and be free, that doesn't change that the test can exist. It just means you have the ability to pass or fail based on how you use your free will. Likewise, it should be clear that some lives are lived better than others. Or are we to say that Hitler and mother Theresa's lives are equivalent? It sounds nice to just say "seek your own happiness", but fails under scrunity. If a creator (God) does exist, He could absolutely have a plan, purpose, and requirements for humanity if He so chooses.
speaker mentions it would be competitive if there was only one goal. How does that prove that an overarching life goal can't exist? Who says that it can't be competitive? Businesses make goals all the time, and have a purpose, and there's fierce competition
life can have a meaning with multiple paths, such as "the goal is to do good in the world", the goal may be the same for everyone, but there may be many ways to reach it. That doesn't negate or prove in any way that an overarching goal "can't" exist.
This is a very smart guy giving a very stupid and arrogant answer.
Ask Bernardo Kastrup what the meaning of life is.
