He has a fundamental misunderstanding of what the call for acknowledging privilege really is. It’s not saying that is the problem. It’s saying its contributing to the problem not being solved. If It were left to only minorities to solve the issues that minorities have, It would be almost impossible to solve them. Being a minority means there is less of you…Acknowledging privilege, condemning racism and being sensitive to the needs of people who weren’t born with your privilege is a way to show support for solving issues that affect minorities and for which minorities are not to blame. Like, It wasn’t their fault so why should they be the only ones to deal with It… is i guess one of the main ways of thinking about It.
Incredibly lazy and naive take here. To think that as white people (like me) in a white people dominated society don’t actively, even if subconsciously, participate in racism is just silly.
