Google "fake turtle straw story" to see that there is no evidence that the item was plastic or that it was a straw. Contact me for the scoop Joe.
Where are all the other videos of turtles with straws in the nose?
Think about it, try to put a straw inside a nostril it takes force and a big amount, someone 100000% inserted this straw into this turtle's nostrill to milk for money or a political reason.
Thought the same exact thing when i watched the video ! Use a real pair of pliers and pull it out already ! They made it way worse for it going slow !
What if it's not a straw?
It's more likely to be the natural growth of the turtle, afterall it is a reptile.
On YouTube there are plenty of people removing old skin growth. A good one is a short "Bearded dragon dead nose skin removal" posted Razvi MTBLife
You can even see the length of it as it is removed.
Now bearinmind how old this turtle is and these helpful humans are yanking on something that has been grown upon.
