Neither Rogan or Callen have any idea what evolution is, I like both of these guys, and they are funny as hell, but they really need to leave the evolutionary biology alone. Evolution is nothing more than population mechanics, allelic frequency change over successive generations, in a breeding population, driven by natural selective pressures, sexual selection, and genetic drift.
Joe assumes that other animals aren't self aware, he assumes that we aren't still monkeys, he assumes that we are in an "adolescent stage in the middle", as though evolution has a goal or a plan that we are half way through, and that we aren't quite animals anymore. Joe has this mystical, nonsensical side, that he sprinkles all of his rational positions with, and he goes overboard with evolution.
