I read the book Showtime about the Lakers, according to that book Kareem was trying to get partners to start a business or be a spokesman or something and was unsuccessful. He went to Magic and asked him how come everyone is falling over themselves to work with Magic, and Magic couldn't believe Kareem didn't realize the way he puts himself out there and how he treats fans. Apparently he has been better about it but that is baseball story is a nightmare.
