The last fight that i can recall, fairly recently, where the fighters showed some real heart, pride, and really encapsulated that spirit fighters would fight with back when Pride was a thing was Fedor Emelianenko vs Big Foot Silva. The fight ended in submission, from what i remember, it was such a tough fight Fedor declared that was his last fight, even though i think he actually did a few more after that, and he was going to retire; i felt Fedor decided to call it quits and retire after that fight due to just how hard and grueling that fight was for him and he wanted out. I remember watching that fight live and was just amazed at the endurance by both fighters and the amount of respect each fighter showed to each other after it was over, it really was emblematic of how mma fights should be, but i bet if all fights were like that a lot of people would rather not do mma. Maybe I'm just a bit blue eyed or whatnot due to being younger and an idiot at the time but i had watched fights for over 10 to 15 years at that point and that one is the one that stuck out most to me, in respect to fights that showed the most spirit.
