  1. What a great discussion, thanks for this.

About 31:00 Daniel is referring another level of thought, achievement, success, contribution that he was expecting in younger years, relating that to those who find the same disappointment and end up settling for a sort of "lesser" existence through self-pacification.  JR asked how this higher ground is "hidden" from us and is more of the belief that a lot of people are just lazy/dumb and don’t go looking.  I think the answer there was what they had already touched on – media, movies and the biggest being education.  These are our conduits to information and hence "learning" but what do they really accomplish.  The school systems are SCARY today, standardized curriculums and methodologies are purely intended to suppress originality and diverse/critical thinking. Think about what kids could be achieving at the earliest ages, with full focus on the potential of the mind…or hell, how about just letting them choose what to learn, to what level of depth, with whom, at what time of the day, etc. Think about the confidence and visions that would emanate.  Instead, "malleable" beings are put in a box until 18, same bar of achievement, very few choices, one “dream” or career is all we’re suited for.  And then even college is the same standardized process for those jockeying for higher skilled positions among the same working class…obedient, complacent and no threat to the owners.

As for media, television, motion pictures…all the same shit.  The owners share common interests and the programming is so intense I can’t even tune in to most of it…the bits I value have gotten smaller and smaller.  Conflict, jealousy, vengeance, competition and self-interest are central themes…not to mention police, military and intel. agencies crammed in every fucking nook and cranny as “necessary” and “good”.  Sheesh.

I hear Joe when he says he just digs a good movie, I enjoy some but more from a traditional sense (they remind me of childhood or they just make me laugh at times).  I don't judge though, “vegging” in front of the TV for some idle time with a doober, sometimes that's all the gas you have in the tank and even on an empty tank, sitting in the electric chair…inspiration can still come!

I think the fact that some people find themselves claiming to "enjoy" their lifestyle or feel "successful" – that's ALL defined after the fact, the system already denied them what was rightfully theirs – that being real choice, honest guidance and relevant global perspectives.  It's like being certain Chocolate is your favorite ice cream when you've only tried 5 others flavors.  You finish school, land a gig that pays well, even decent, and you actually have a passion for it – you might find some deep stoke, and relatively speaking, happy is better than suicidal…but in the end you're just well adapted to a sick system.

Keep the ideas churning…peace to you!
