He was a hero of the left when he was reporting on George W Bush's crimes in the Middle East and the surveillance state but as soon as he f*** with the Clinton crime family that's when things went South for Julian
The "American" military-industrial-complex could go to war with a coalition made up of every other country on Earth and the safe money would still be on the MIC, but the biggest threat it poses is to its own civilian populace. Every right laid out in the constitution became a privilege with the Trinity Test, and possibly even earlier. The people could never rise up against a unified American military in conventional warfare, even with the national guard's help, but the Cold War concentrated apocalyptic power into so few hands that even a portion of the divided military could not be assailed as long as it has control of a majority of the nuclear arsenal. Woodrow Wilson's "arsenal of democracy" has become the greatest threat to democracy and freedom the world has ever seen. Eisenhower presided over the greatest liberating force in history, but he also recognized and warned that once it had served its purpose, if not dismantled, it would begin to devour its own. What's worse is the influence multinational corporations, who have zero loyalties to any nation, have on the American military through money in politics and even more direct channels (being part of the MIC itself, for instance).

Though I don't support Trump's position on prosecuting Assange, I completely disagree with this fantasy that Trump is an authoritarian, he's closer to the opposite.
