Ironically the kid hadn’t actually filed his civil lawsuit yet when this video was posted. When they’re talking about this it was actually during the criminal trial which is where this evidence came out. He did sue him civilly a few days after this video but then dismissed his civil suit six days after he filed it. But the entire situation around this kid was a fucking disaster. At first he didn’t even accuse spacey publicly his former news anchor mom did. And during the criminal case they pulled those text messages from his phone but Spaceys attorneys argued that the messages looked tampered with and didn’t display the entire conversation and asked the judge to order that they be able to examine the phone to investigate that because they believed there may have been messages in that conversation that could support their case.
And when the judge ordered them to provide the phone suddenly they couldn’t find it because it had been lost and the kids father who police had returned the phone to said he never remembered getting it back. The judge decided that they had to either provide the phone or if they couldn’t provide it then the kid had to take the stand to be questioned about it’s hereabout and contents and once the defense asked him if he knew that manipulating evidence was a crime the kid took the 5th and wouldn’t waive it which led to the prosecutors dropping the criminal charges as well.
That kid was definitely playing along with shit because he wanted a fun story to tell his friends. I doubt he even wanted it to go public considering it was his mom who made everything public. He was a teenager who got flirted with and played along for what he thought would be a good story and probably didn’t think it was ever going to be a big deal. But once it became a big deal and he realized he was going to get in trouble because he’d messed with his messages he backed off of it. Seems like their whole family approached it that way to get clout off of the publicity until they realized they or their kid or all had fucked up and we’re gonna get in trouble for it.
