They need to be more consistent with including the video clips and images they're looking at in these videos. They show it sometimes so what's the excuse for not showing it every time?
I really really think the majority of the damage to sage's face was the way he hit the canvas. He went from standing to flat on his face.
At least if Cosmo cracked his skull the canvas shattered it.
Joe "look how thick he is" Rogan
Joe makes a point about young fighters in MMA running into elite competition early in their careers and getting fucked up and having that fear put in them. The reason this happens is that MMA is still relatively a young sport, and it's not a "poor man's" sport. It's not like Boxing where Joey from down the block can get into boxing by going to a boxing gym and within 4-6 months have his first professional fight. In boxing there are 10s of thousands of "Joey from down the block", so there's an ample amount of guys for a hot young prospect to build their confidence against before they step up in competition.
With MMA being a sport where you need to have means to be successful, and you can't easily get into MMA like you can do boxing, there aren't tons of MMA gyms out there, so you don't have a lot of fighters that a young talent can build their confidence off of. Hell, look at Jon Jones as a prime example. 8 fights into his MMA career he was fighting Stephan Bonnar, who was a big name in MMA and was not a slouch when it came to competition. You compare him to Mike Tyson, 8 fights into his Boxing career, he was fighting a nobody named Michael Johnson. Mike Tyson didn't have his first fight against a recognized name until Jesse Ferguson which was his 18th fight.
Sage advice from Joe.
