  1. Here's the truth. Throwing down a challenge to duel wasn't some formality, it wasn't some empty challenge to test someone's resolve merely by seeing if they'd show up. Duels were taken serious and if you found yourself in one you better fucking aim that pistol at your opponent and not just point up to the sky and pop off cause you better believe the guy at the other end of the pistol aimed at you was looking to put a lead ball inside you. They aimed. The problem with the duels back then was the accuracy of the pistols. This was before gunsmiths figured out rifling a barrel. So the ball shots coming outta the pistols went everywhere and it wasn't uncommon for a duel to last hours and after many reloads. Often duels were stalemated due to inaccuracies. Andrew Jackson was a straight killer son and he dished out as well as he took it. Dude had a lot of lead in him that was never able to be removed.

  2. They kept calling the Dualists Barbarians but I have to disagree. They aren't Barbarians, far from it. It was a consensual dual of honor and respect that typically didn't end in a life life. They lined up in a field, and shot near eachother. Barbarians would shoot and try to actually kill them wherever they were at. A bar, church, wherever. This was an agreed apon fight that both agreed too. Not barbarians.
