  1. "Pretty much every conflict is a result of Capitalism."

That must be why before the advent of capitalism about 200-300 years ago, there were no wars anywhere, ever.

Reggie is a poster child for why you shouldn't do drugs and stay away from socialism kids.

  2. The simple-minded environmentalist wants to do away with fossil fuels. He wants clean energy, with no greenhouse gas emissions. But he doesn't want dams, because dams destroy ecosystems. He doesn't want wind farms, because the propellers ruin landscapes and disturb animals. It doesn't want nuclear power, because it produces radioactive waste.
The simple-minded environmentalist wants forests, because we need trees to absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. But he wants to choose the trees. He doesn't want eucalyptus, he doesn't want production forest. He wants the Little Red Riding Hood forest, because he has always lived in the city and thinks forests are like that. He wants to tell each landowner what he can plant and force him to take care of the land in a free, selfless service for the benefit of "society.

The simpleton environmentalist cries "listen to the scientists," when the scientists tell him what he wants to hear. "Listen to the scientists: we are destroying the planet with climate change." But when the same scientists say that "GMOs do no harm and can be an asset to the environment and to humanity," the simpleton environmentalist screams, "Scientists are in the service of the multinationals."

The simpleton environmentalist wants organic farming, because he doesn't like "chemicals." But he forgets that everything is chemicals, from the oxygen he breathes to the copper sulfate used, like hundreds of other "natural" products, in organic farming. He forgets that organic farming needs more space, valuable space, to produce the same amount as conventional farming, and that this space will have to be gained at the expense of deforestation.

The simple-minded environmentalist wants everyone to become vegetarian, or vegan, and do away with animal production. But he ignores that without animal production all the fertilizer used to grow his vegetables will have to be artificial, and "alas, God forbid the chemicals".

The simple-minded environmentalist wants to do away with zoos, because, no, animals can't be in captivity, locked up all their lives in a limited space. But he makes an exception for cats and dogs (and rabbits, come on), less animals than the others. These can live almost from birth until the day they die locked up in a 50 square meter apartment, which is for their own good.

The simple-minded environmentalist is against food waste. But he doesn't want preservatives in his food or delights from the sea or anything that is made from food scraps.

The simple-minded environmentalist only cooks with olive oil, that eighth wonder for health. But he rails against the great olive groves of the Alentejo. Is producing olive oil in large quantities the only way to lower its price and make it accessible to everyone? Let the poor eat cake.

The simple-minded environmentalist cries the death of every rhino and tiger. But he defends tooth and nail the traditional Chinese medicine that is behind the persecution of rhinos and tigers, to make miracle powders out of their horns and bones – because alternative medicines are natural and, there you go, what's natural is good (as long as it's not salt, poisonous mushrooms, arsenic, asbestos, mercury, anthrax, nettles, malaria, ultraviolet rays, etc, etc, etc).

The simple-minded environmentalist campaigns for "ugly fruit" to be eaten, thinking that farmers are throwing away tomatoes and apples that are of no interest to the supermarkets. But he ignores the fact that these shapeless tomatoes and apples are turned into ketchup, juices and other products, which are obviously not made from top grade vegetables and fruits.

The simple-minded environmentalist wants to eat fish. But it can't be caught at sea, because the fishing is not sustainable, and it can't be from aquaculture, because it has antibiotics, and it certainly can't be genetically modified, because he saw some unknown person on YouTube who said he doesn't know what, he doesn't really remember anymore.

The simple-minded environmentalist wants more electric cars on the roads. But he is against the prospection of lithium, that unsustainable source of pollution of the air, the soil, and the water, and he writes about it on social networks, typing furiously on his cell phone with a lithium battery.

  3. private property… then if they created negative externalities they would have to pay for it. kill a million fish and those fish belong to someones private property then they can sue you for that negative externality. its not true capitalism thats the problem but state run capitalism and land owned by state and not private owners because then theyd have to actually account for the damages to the people who own those locations
