Masvidal was never a Champion, but he had certain guys number and had REALLY good power in his strikes. Masvidal at that point in his career had also seen more fights bar none in total than any fighter in the UFC counting his backyard fights and all. Conor was amazing when he was on fire but nothing he does would have been stranger to Masvidal. I believe the slickness of Masvidal would have ended Conor if they faced off in both of their primes. Masvidal never was Champion, but he was a very special and unique assassin and a threat to anyone that tried to strike with him in his "PRIME" which was before he met Usman. Masvidal had already been fighting 18 years when he fought Usman. No amount of motivation or training stops father time… sometimes it takes a few fights to know it but Usman never fought Jorge Masvidal on his best days. Masvidal was like an aggressive Spanish Matidor setting traps, breaking fighters rythyms with his feints, throwing right leg kicks with insane speed and power. He had the malicious type style that would have ended Conor McGregor for sure in my opinion. He is one of the greatest fighters in UFC history to never be Champion if not the greatest fighter to never be Champion. He fought over 50 fights in MMA with a 43% KO ratio and a couple of submissions. Before he ever met Usman, only 2 men in his career had finished him. Over 40 fights and only 2 times did someone actually finish him. The UFC waited far to long to give Masvidal a Title shot in my opinion. He should have retired after his second fight with Usman. He had a Glorious career, built the sport and evolved with it, and gave us literally hours and hours of footage of him fighting. He is a Legend that was never Champion.
The askren knockout is the only thing masvidal is really leaving with in his career
