When Jesus say on that day, I never knew you, he's going to mean just what he says, and we all need to know this.
Never neans never. It doesnt mean something else. When jesus says to someone on that day, I never knew you, he'll be simply saying to that person, you're not one of my own. Because if you were, I would have known you, and you me, because i'm the good Shepherd and I know my sheep, and I am known by my own. (John 10:14 NKJV.)
We also need to understand, in order to be one of his, we must be born-again. It is the only way we can have a relationship with him, and he with us.
Those self righteous Christians who'll be saying to Jesus Lord, Lord on that day will not have a relationship with him, because they won't be born-again. They'll be sheep of a fold that is not the Lord's. Neither are they going to have in them the spirit of God, or, his power. This means the miracles that they had done using the Lord's name were not done by the power of God, hence the reason why he's going to say to them on that day, depart from me, you who do Lawlessness.
When Jesus said "In that day many will say Lord Lord, didn't we prophecy in your name and didn't we expel demons in your name and didn't we do many powerful works in your name and I will declare to them get away from me you workers of lawlessness, i never knew you. So who do you think Jesus is talking about there??
The Answer, People who think they're doing God's will,(not Jesus' will but God's) people who "think" they're Christians is who he is talking about.
The Muslims and Hindus and other religions that dont recognize Jesus as the Son of God, aren't the ones prophecying and expelling demons and doing many powerful works "In his name" but people who think they're Christians are.
Remember that the next time you get on here and talk smack or bash someone else for their beliefs in a different religion. I've seen people get on here and bash Jehovah's Witnesses because they believe differently than trinitrians do and I think that it's the exactly those people that Jesus was talking about. Jesus didn't tell us to go out and bash other people's beliefs. He said go out and spread the Good News of the Kingdom.
And No I'm not a Jehovah's Witness. I just dont think talking smack about the way someone else believes is what God wants us to be doing. And who's to say that they dont have it right??
If you think that that makes you a Good Christian by going around stumbling a person because of their beliefs, then by all means keep bashing other people for their beliefs and then we'll see who Jesus was talking about "in that day."
Those whom the Lord do not know are those who say in their hearts "Look at me, I'm so holy because I do all of these things. I'm so above everyone else because I do this and that." That's the very reason Lucifer fell. Everything was perfect in the beginning until Lucifer boasted in his heart of his purity. He uplifted himself which grew and grew until it became ugly…PRIDE IN DOING GOOD IS THE WORST OF ALL EVIL.
