Akido is terrible. It's such a joke of a martial art. I'm a purple belt in bjj and have been going to boxing once or twice a week for nearly 20 years. I'm 30, 6'2 and 220lbs. I'd beat any akido "master" on the face of the planet. Nobody who only has akido will ever beat me in 1v1 combat.
The only place aikido works is on Navy Submarines.
My instructor was saying : There is no weak style, there is weak practitioners.
He's a legit Aikido grandmaster, fact. Maybe that's just what his passion was for. MMA was not around back then, and martial arts are not only about fucking people up. Sure, the guy's off his rocker, fat, and getting old, but that doesn't take away from his status and accomplishments in Aikido. Give credit where it's due.
