A psychopath is born a sociopath is developed later in life
Why is he laughing?
Psychopaths have a genetic condition where two parts of their brain are not communicating well or not at all with each other, unfortunately they are the parts that deal with empathy and guilt. Most people with psychopathy are not violent, are pleasant people, and they usually excel in high stress jobs like CEOs, bomb squads , politicians ππ (lack of empathy and guilt, things starting to make sense here? π), but with every group their are the extremes at the end of the spectrum, and this is how you get the Ed Kempers of the world, most however will fall in the middle, and will probably go through life doing what they do, might cheat on girlfriends, steal, break the law, things like that.
Sociopathy is not genetic, it is a condition which will afflict a person when they grow up through traumatic or stressful childhoods. Where psychopaths cannot have the emotion of empathy or guilt, sociopaths will except it is reduced to people that they are close to, although it doesnβt mean they wonβt do bad things to people they are close to. They live a very hectic life where they will struggle to get ahead in life, unlike the psychopath whom is usually very methodical and intelligent but not always and usually can hold a decent job. Sociopaths will cheat and steal from people and not feel bad about it like some psychopaths will.
They are very similar but the biggest differences to remember are that Psychopathy is caused genetically and Sociopathy is caused environmentally, psychopaths have a dulled or no feeling of guilt or empathy (as well as some other functions) due to two brain areas not communicating to each other properly or at all, Sociopaths can feel all emotions but have been environmentally conditioned to feel them less so they can steal and cheat people to get what they want.
