Rickson is one step above Frank Dux. You only know how great he was from other ppl saying it
BJJ is an excellent Martial Art, but unfortunately,gyms are so expensive it doesn't seem it's for everyone.
I hope Joe Rogan can talk about that one day.

I didn't know that gymnastics term gymnasta naturale (or whatever they're saying) but I knew when I see Rickson, Machado Brothers, Demian Maia, Marcelo Garcia I see some greatest common denominators.
All of them have this total mastery of their own bodyweight and are peak physical conditioning relative to bjj performance. They have this Gymnastica naturale.
They also have a separate phenomenon that integrates with their bodyweight mastery is invisible jiu jitsu. The ability to know all the intangible factors that influence the tangible techniques, advanced applications. The letting people get you in a rear naked and then escape and immediately get them in a rear naked is invisible jiu jitsu.
Last, but not least, is they have a complete jiu jitsu game. More specifically, wrestling and Judo are parent disciplines to bjj. Gracie Jiu Jitsu principles hinge on a unique fusion of wrestling and judo to get the fight to the ground within the specific principalities of jiu jitsu. There is a unique GJJ clinch game that is very important to setting up the ground game. Look at any Rickson fight and how he takes the fight to the ground via clinch then leg trip is almost like Randy Couture. That's because just as much as Jiu Jitsu is a art of submission and ground fighting mastery, it's also a legitimate system of clinch grappling and takedowns that blend wrestling and Judo scrambles/transitions/takedowns/throws etc.
He is my favorite Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Master!
