So what exactly would Bernie do to address why costs are so high in higher education in the first place? Will taxpayers pick up the costs for only current college & university student debt? Or go back further? As taxpayers will be picking up the cost for education, will they have a greater say in the curriculum? In fairness, I think the cost has gone up because the population has grown exponentially and it was necessary to balance out the increased demand. But the cost has definitely gone up astronomically and not proportionally to what is actually needed to sustain educational institutions but instead to keep enacting bullshit programs that don't actually serve a legitimate purpose.
Bernie, a man who has been in congress for 2 generations, is complaining about tax breaks that went through congress time and time again while he has been in office and while his party has had control of congress and/or the presidency. His only "fix" for the situation is to "tax the wealthy" which will not work, and has never worked. Does he think these wealthy folk have millions sitting in their bank accounts to pay this tax increase? no, they are millionaires and billionaires because of equity.
Not true I hardly got past high-school have no college no debt and make 80k turning a wrench started pumping gas at a gas station with a mom and pa auto shop moved to dealership and haven't looked back.. go Learn a skill and work your way up possibilities are endless if you put your work and mind into it

I'm all for forgiving student debt IF the student loan program is abolished and replaced.
The second school's don't have guaranteed loans, prices will go down.
