Revelation 16:2 KJVS
And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and upon them which worshipped his image.
The Greek manuscripts did not have chapter divisions in them. The book of Revelation is largely linear in regards to chronology.
The Mark of the beast is before the 16th chapter. Not only that the 16th chapter is about the vials of wrath being poured out on the Earth by the seven angels. These events are possibly four or five years in the future.
The drying up of the Euphrates also is to release 4 bound up Angels! Rev 9:14 "Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates." KJV
