Nah he’s just an asshole. That’s like him saying “Racism isn’t really an issue since the percentage of normal to racist people is very small” right after the killing of George Floyd. Even a scientist who just thinks about statistics gets no excuse for lack of humanity. That in itself is a flaw. They don’t just get a pass because they’re a scientist

Neil deGrasse Tyson likes to promote himself and make statements to promote his supposed superior intelligence. Sometimes that strategy backfires on him – like the time he said that zero is the same as nothing and zero has no numerical value. Unfortunately, he was ignoring the fact that zero is a number and so of course it has a value. The numerical value of zero is zero. If you would like to see zero, you can find it on a number line. It will be at the zero position since this is its numerical value.

I’m in a rare spot where I enjoy much of what Alonzo has to say and I find him funny, but I have zero doubt in my mind that he would have a much more negative view of the scientist in question were that scientist white.
